Think Again; Protect your toaster from cyber-attack
- Look back with no partiality: only necessary detachment
- Do not be defined by progress: take what serves you
- Plan for the future: protect your toaster from cyber-attacks
- Care for craft: durability begins with tangibility
- Look beyond the trend: original thinking waits
- Remember: beauty is not defined by transience
- Ignore slang and emojis: they are fleeting
- Consider your archiving methods: archiving is thinking for the future
The manifesto is a meditation on the absurdity of preserving the seemingly impermanent. Writers have long used their work to immortalise themselves and eternalise their experiences. The Think Again manifesto emerges from this impulse, but adapted to our intangible, networked age. It's inspired by a BBC article about the October 2016 DDoS attack, in which smart home devices were conscripted into a digital revolt, titled “Think Again: Protect your toaster from cyber-attack.”
